Everything in this world starts from what we hear, feel, see. Then it beautifully morphs from what we hear to what we talk, from what we feel to what we express and from what we see to what we create. How important is a child's first expression of 'Ma' for a Mother? It is indeed a wonderful feeling which -like a soft musical note- sensitizes the mother with emotions flowing melodiously through the ears then touching the brain locking a part of itself up as a beautiful memory she will always cherish; then straight down the heart - subtly flowing- and finally precipitating into drops of happiness that show up the eyes. There a natural design essence is born. We brand design practitioners have termed it as 'tone of voice'. This understanding helps us craft out the nature of type required for generating a definite emotion.
It is fairly a strong bit to achieve. We look back, revisit what we've lived through our years. I have an example to share. This summer I was on break from my usual work schedule relaxing my brain (I usually call it brain-with-running-shoes) back home. Needed some fresh clean slots to develop in there! I was looking for more insightful inspirations to sprout. My nephew -handsomely at 10- was playing around the scattered randomness of the floor. There were sun drying clips, some worn out mosquito repellent coils, broken crayons etc. One of the broken coils formed an impressive 'C'. He then took his time to form a tougher 'B' using the coil, breaking it up in the best possible arcs. He succeeded. But it did not make him any happier. Now he wanted an 'A' more than even his favorite pancakes with cola. How? Just how would he form an 'A' with those ruthless curves! Anyway there was just a scrap half an inch piece left. He could definitely not break fresh ones or his mommy dear wouldn't take him dearly. I saw him desperately looking for something till he found his happiness - his readymade alphabet in a sun drying clip! He placed it just before his 'B'. Winning his own challenge, he quietly wandered off for lunch leaving a dumbstruck me to see and think about the subconscious creativity embedded within humans. This subconscious creativity is highly active when we are children. I clicked a photograph of the art form from my phone immediately.
Now, this little incident makes me look back at my own childhood. I am overflowing with ideas these days since I'm back! Sometimes you needn't think 'out-of-that-box' or experiment. Sometimes, letting the thoughts free is a wise bet. For our new space design assignment for a realty client we're more excited! The power of type once again will prove to be the ultimate tool to express insights.

A happy and charming new year twenty ten to us all everywhere and every way!
As the world has forced up its crown out the blue dull recession phase, we hope for light as we see a streak on the horizons. We, the patrons and lovers of branding, are proud to tell the world that it were the carefully thought out brand sustenance strategies that were the twig in the drowning times for many-a-brands around the world. The proven power of a brand makes us hope for a brighter, flowerier year for the upcoming enterprises and the masters of trade brand names.
After the much anticipated Copenhagen talks and an eventual failure of the same, we are determined and wishing for a greener planet. Lets start this year with a hope of a better world to live in...
Good wishes!
